According to El Comercio the ordinance, launched Mayor Luis Florez García, dictates that all the nightclubs in this part of the city must be endorsed by the National Institute of Culture (INC) in order to function. The mayor said that by allowing clubs to run, they were “not only breaking walls, enabling doors, but also bending the rules and the monumentality of the historical center [of Machu Picchu]."
Other clubs located in the historic center of Cusco have formed a partnership, in an attempt to speak with the mayor and reach an agreement to keep their doors open.
I think there is a lot abuse of authority and lack of judgment among local authorities, because we must keep in mind that this is a tourist city, so tourists do not only come to visit the ruins, but also to have fun. The nighclubs will be in another places. It is a comentary
