President Garcia inaugurates Essalud hospital in Ica
Peruvian President Alan Garcia has traveled to the southern Ica region to inaugurate the 'Nuevo Hospital de Alta Complejidad Ica' (New Ica High Complexity Hospital), a US$24-million health facility to serve over 350,000 insured people.
During his 195th visit to a Peruvian region, Garcia Perez will be accompanied by Essalud head Fernando Barrios and several local authorities.
This is the third hospital built by the government in the Sur Chico (southern regions near the capital city of Lima) and the 15th nationwide. Ten other new hospitals are under construction throughout the country.
Essalud is a state-owned insurance and service provider in Peru offering medical and economic benefits that cover nearly ten million regularly insured parties and successors.
With a total construction area of 14,890 square meters, the new hospital has 105 inpatient beds, five surgical rooms, a medical imaging unit, two delivery rooms, an intensive care unit, and an emergency room.
