PERU’S INCA RUINS MACHU PICHHU NOT DAMAGED BY FLOODS

Peruvian Tourism Minister Martin Perez said that an aggressive global media campaign will be launched to promote Cusco as a safe tourist destination and that the Inca ruins of Machu Picchu have not been affected by recent torrential rains and floods.
?We will first repair the railway and then launch a global media campaign because what happened in Cusco was more related to the evacuation issue,? said Minister Perez, who pointed out that Machu Picchu ruins remain intact despite heavy rains and floods.
Minister Perez added that this initiative will be implemented soon when public employees go on vacation, ?so why not make an effort and encourage Peruvians to visit Cusco.?
Encouraging Peruvians to visit the highlands will be an excellent initiative to offset this fall in tourism as Cusco is mainly visited by foreign tourists,? he said. The minister said he met with the President of Cusco’s Chamber of Tourism, Carlos Milla to start this initiative soon and ?we will hold some meetings with the National Chamber of Tourism (Canatur)
